'Top Class Delivery', Twitterati Hails Anderson For Bowling Out Murali Vijay For Duck

England skipper Joe Root won the toss and opted to field

India’s opening batsman Murali Vijay faced criticism on Twitter after being bowled out for a duck on Day 2 of the second Test match against England at Lord’s on August 10.

Vijay, who came to open the innings with KL Rahul after being asked to bat first by England skipper Joe Root, failed to read an outswinger by pacer James Anderson during the very first over.

Anderson’s delivery was a good length, angled in and turned away after pitching in.

Vijay wanted to play across the line towards the on-side and the ball missed his bat completely to hit at the top of off stump.

Following Vijay’s dismissal, Indian cricket fans took to Twitter to criticise him for his shot selection. Here are some of the reactions:

Earlier, England skipper Joe Root won the toss and opted to field in the morning, after the opening day’s play on Thursday was completely washed out due to incessant rain.

Meanwhile, rain interrupted play in the seventh over of the day.

India lost the opening pair of Murali Vijay (0) and Lokesh Rahul (8) before rain once again played spoilsport.

India reached 11/2 with Cheteshwar Pujara (1 not out) and Virat Kohli (1 not out).

Brief Scores: India 11/2 (Lokesh Rahul 8, Cheteshwar Pujara 1 not out; James Anderson 2-6) vs England.
