The third test of the India vs Australia series at Ranchi though ended up in a draw but it was a game worth remembering for a longer time. A marvellous knock of 202 runs from Cheteshwar Pujara, three mind blowing half-centuries from KL Rahul, Murali Vijay and Ravindra Jadeja and a great ton from Wriddhiman Saha were some of the glimpses. While, on the other hand, partnership brought up by Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh to save the game. It was a story which lasted till 5 days and both the teams didn’t fall short to put their efforts.
At the post-match press conference, Skipper Virat Kohli appreciated the efforts put in by team India and praised the innings of Pujara and Saha while also top rated the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja. He asserted that the final game in Dharamsala will be the one in which both the teams will put all their efforts to perform really well.
Talking about the game, Kohli mentioned that they did really well and managed to put a good amount of pressure on the Aussies that on the final day they played to draw the game. The pitch conditions changed by the 3rd, 4th and 5th day and the guests didn’t give their wickets in the later half of the final day.
While speaking about Pujara, Kohli said,”He (Pujara) is the most dependable batsman we have in the team right now. Whenever we needed him, he has been there and his urge of getting runs has always helped us to withstand immense pressure.”
“Saha played a phenomenal inning which helped us in the end. He has always been positive and never says no to anything asked him to do. He never thinks about the position he’s being asked to play at and does the same what is being asked,” said Kohli about Wriddhiman Saha.
Virat also spoke about Mohammed Shami and stated that there are fair chances that he might be in the team for the last test in Dharamsala.
