India vs Australia 4th Test Dharamsala, Tea Report: Indian bowlers strike back, take 5 wickets for 77 in 2nd session

The second season fell into Team India's lap in which a total of 77 runs were scored and 5 wickets were taken

The second session of the 4th game of the India vs Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Dharamsala resumed at 131/1 where skipper Steven Smith and David Warner ready to bat further. Both of them looked pretty confident as both had already score half-centuries. Smith was much near to his another hundred in this series while Warner was moving ahead after scoring these many runs in for the first time in the series.

Minutes after the lunch break, Kuldeep Yadav, who replaced skipper Kohli in this game, went off the mark and extracted the first scalp of his Test career in the form of David Warner. Yadav did the much-needed damage to the Aussies as an extra bounce got the better of Warner and he went for the cut shot but it went a bit straight as Warner edged it to Rahane who took it comfortably. The team was reduced to 144/2 and then came Shaun Marsh at number 4.

It was expected from Marsh that he would repeat his rock solid performance what he exhibited in Ranchi on the last day but he could survive merely 10 minutes on the crease. Senior Yadav of Team India, Umesh Yadav, strike then and dismissed Shaun Marsh for 4 off 14 balls and sent him back to the pavilion. Within a course of 10-11minutes, the Aussies lost two important wickets in the beginning of the second session but at the other end, Steve Smith smith looked determined to reach his next ton.

At the score of 153/3, Peter Handscomb came in to bat at number 5. Smith had a great time on the field but simultaneously, he needed a stagnant support at the other end. He was moving gradually ahead towards his 3rd century of the series But what he might have expected was not at all accomplished.

Debutant China man Kuldeep Yadav caused another loss to the guests and took his second wicket. Peter Handscomb, who supported thoroughly in the Ranchi Test in 2nd innings, was dismissed for just 8 runs. Handscomb went for a drive but the ball came back in fiercelrattlinging the stumps. Yadav got his second wicket!

Next came Glenn Maxwell who score his first ton in Test in the last Game in Ranchi. At such a position, when the team got reduced to 168/4, Maxwell’s support was much needed. But the China man hit back and got his shot after dismissing Maxwell soon after he sent back Handscomb. The young lad made the Aussies crumble. Maxwell could not decide what to do with that ball as he went back and forth. The ball went into the stumps giving another wicket to Kuldeep.

Meanwhile, the skipper didn’t leave his mark and his determination paid him off with another century against India in Dharamsala as well. This knock owed him several records as well. This ton was his third in this series and 7th against India. What a feat by the young captain.

He was accompanied by Matthew Wade, after Maxwell departed, who came in at number 7. The partnership between both of them has just started brewing and moving ahead when a delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin did the rest of the magic.

Ahead of the tea break, in the 60th over, Ashwin dismissed the centurion of the day, Steve Smith for 111 of 173 balls. This was a huge blow again to the Aussies at the end of the second session. But not for the Indians as they have successfully taken the 5th wicket in this session. Also with this wicket, Ashwin becomes the bowler with most wickets in the season.

The second season fell into Team India’s lap in which a total of 77 runs were scored and 5 wickets were taken.

Score at tea:

Australia: 201/6; Matthew Wade: 13 (45); Patt Cummins: 0(1)
