India vs Australia 2nd Test day 2 lunch report: Warner, Smith dismissals peg visitors back

With Peter Handscomb and Mitchell Marsh to follow, Australia surely have depth in their batting front.

The session could have been much worse for Australia as they would atleast believe that. Close appeals, calls that could have gone any way. Australia go into lunch at 87 for 2. The big fish, David Warner and the centurion from the last Test Smith is out, that would be a silver lining for India. India on the other hand, kept it tight did not offer freebies and that means they did not allow the game to slip. Australia now have a new Shaun Marsh and a well set Renshaw batting together.

In the next session, we feel India should hold the pacers back and allow the spinners to take more of the workload. Virat Kohli’s luck with the DRS continues as he wasted one before lunch. Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav worked up good pace and steam but were wicket-less. Ishant also got Smith animated on a few ocassions, but Smith defended like only he can. The ball was keeping woefully low. The pitch has also shown signs of spin, which means batting last would be impossible against the famed Indian spin duo. With Peter Handscomb and Mitchell Marsh to follow, Australia surely have depth in their batting front.

Next session promises to be a cracker. We will be hoping India can give the Sunday crowd a fight.
