Kuldeep Yadav reveals his IDOL, it is not Ashwin or Harbhajan

The young Kuldeep is taking giant strides in international cricket and would be hoping to extend his good run for the team's benefit

Uttar Pradesh-born chinaman Kuldeep Yadav has finally revealed the cricketer he looks up to. His idol is not an Indian legend or somebody from the current Indian squad but former Australian legend Shane Warne. India has already taken a 1-0 lead in the T20I series. Kuldeep Yadav has played a pivotal role in India’s success in recent times. The young Kuldeep also got a hat-trick against Australia in the One Day International series that concluded recently. India won the ODI series 4-1, pulverising the visitors. Kuldeep Yadav shot to limelight when he debuted against Australia last year in the Dharamsala Test and bagged the Man of the Match. Since then Kuldeep has never looked back and has had only grown with every game. Perhaps one may be surprised that none of the Indian spinners were his idols, considering India has been blessed with great spinners like Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin of recent times.

Yadav said on Monday, October 11, “I’ve followed Shane Warne since childhood. He’s my idol.”

“My life will be a success if I could achieve 50 per cent of what he has achieved,” he added.

Speaking about Hogg with whom he shared the dressing room in the IPL, Kuldeep said: “You learn a lot with a fellow chinaman, be it his flipper or wrong’un. He’s 46 now with a career span of over 23 years. For me, it’s just the start of my career. It’s great to gain some experience from them.”

Kuldeep has also worked with Shane Warne recently. Warne was seen teaching him how to master the flipper, a stock delivery for a wrist spinner.

The 2nd T20I takes place on October 10 and it promises to be a crunch battle provided the weather holds up.
