India team for T20Is versus New Zealand announced, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj included

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on October 23 announced the Indian T20I team to play against New Zealand in three-match series starting November 1

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on October 23 announced the Indian T20I team to play against New Zealand in the three-match series starting November 1. Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj have been included in the team while Kedar Jadhav has been ruled out. Mohammed Siraj, who will make his T20I debut, has earned this opportunity at the back of a successful Indian Premier League season for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is a fast bowler. Shreyas Iyer, who also received his debut call, is a wicket-keeper batsman. Shreyas Iyer is the key player of IPL team Delhi Daredevils.

Earlier, Virat Kohli-led team India lost the opening One Day International against New Zealand at Wankhede by 6 wickets. New Zealand now leads the 3-match ODI series 1-0. Virat Kohli, who was playing his 200th ODI, scored a ton, becoming only the second player to achieve this feat after AB De Villiers. This is a big inclusion for Mohammed Siraj as Virat Kohli has over and over again stated the importance of having a pool 20-25 players in the pipeline for the 2019 cricket World Cup. Kedar Jadhav has been dropped from the side due to his inconsistent form. This is a big opportunity for Iyer and Siraj to make a mark.

India, who are already 1-0 down in the ongoing ODI series, will look to make a comeback in Pune. India will look to continue their ODI winning streak.

This is the team that has been selected for the T20I series. India will look to whitewash the Kiwis in the shortest format to climb to the numero uno position. If that happens, India will be number one in all formats. But for that to happen India will have to play good cricket because the Kiwis have proven at Wankhede that they are no pushovers.

Full squad: Kohli (c), Shikhar, Rohit, KL, Manish, Iyer, Karthik, MSD, Hardik, Axar, Chahal, Kuldeep, Bumrah, Bhuvi, Nehra, Siraj
