ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar after a lot of thought has decided to give his upcoming Pakistan visit a miss. This is really big in terms of Pakistan, as it could mean a huge setback to their revenue. Shashank Manohar’s visit could have solved a lot of problems pertaining in Pakistan. A country where international cricket has not been played over a decade, after a terrorist attack on a Sri Lankan bus that was traveling to the Lahore stadium. ICC’s nod after inspection of the latest conditions could have brought a lot of relief for them. But, by the looks of it, it is not going to be!
PCB chief Shaharyar Khan has been trying his level best to make things happen with BCCI, but BCCI is not for it after the Pathankot attacks in India.
“Manohar’s visit is being linked to the visit of the World XI in early September as earlier he was invited to come in August but by that time the PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan would have completed his three-year tenure and stepped down,” a source was quoted by PTI as saying on Cricketnext.
“But given that the ICC is seeking top security arrangements and assurances for the World XI, which are yet forthcoming from the government to the PCB due to the uncertain political conditions in the country, it seems time is running out and if the World Eleven doesn’t come than Manohar’s visit is also unlikely to take place,” the source concluded.
