Here's why Virat Kohli & Co laughed after seeing Ashish Nehra at Eden Gardens on Day 2

Ashish Nehra is on to a new career as a TV commentator on November 16 with the first Test between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Former Indian speedster Ashish Nehra said goodbye to international cricket on November 1. However, he was back on the field during the first India vs Sri Lanka Test at the Eden Gardens but not in Indian jersey. This time he was in a suit. Two weeks after his retirement, Nehraji joined his old friend and former teammate Virender Sehwag in Kolkata as a Hindi commentator in the series.

According to several media reports, ahead of 2nd day’s play at the Eden Gardens, Nehra met the young bunch of players on the field. While speaking to the media, he said,

That was nothing to do with cricket. When I was on the camera they all were laughing. Because they have seen me in suit so. I went to say hello to them. Bharat Arun was there so we had a laugh about my new role.

After a cricketing career spanning 18 years, Nehra was seen in such an outfit for the first time on national TV. After debuting in 1999 against Sri Lanka, Nehra took 157 wickets in 120 ODIs and 44 wickets in 17 Tests. In T20s, he took 34 wickets in 27 games. During his career, he underwent 12 different surgeries due to which he lost numerous opportunities.

He is on to a new career as a TV commentator on November 16 with the first Test between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. After losing the toss, India batted first and had a very poor start. In two days, just 32.5 overs could be bowled with India being restricted at 74/5 at the end of Day 2.

Cheteshwar Pujara came in at number 3 when India were reduced to 0/1. He turned out to be the lone fighter who survived against the Lankan pace attack on the green top in overcast conditions. India will resume their inning on Day 3 from 74/5.
