Hard taskmaster Virat Kohli's stare to Ravindra Jadeja makes him fall in line

This was the first time Kohli lost his cool on Day 3. But not the last time. Umesh Yadav gave him another reason to be angry

Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a cool campaigner. A mis-field or a dropped catch would not attract a public dressing-down. However, that is not the case with his successor Virat Kohli. The new captain is super aggressive in his moves on the field and he feels the game like no other player. Kohli doesn’t shy away from giving a mouthful to his own players for committing silly mistakes. Such an incident took place on Day 1 when Cheteshwar Pujara was involved in a mix-up. Kohli gestured at Pujara, saying what was going on with him. On Day 3 also, Kohli slammed Ravindra Jadeja for a fielding goof up. Jadeja’s reaction after Kohli’s anger was very funny indeed.

On day 3, Ravindra Jadeja had a shy at stumps when nobody was backing up the throw. The ball went for 4 runs despite KL Rahul’s desperate effort to field the ball. Virat Kohli just didn’t say a word but kept on giving Jadeja a stare. Jadeja was looking for cover but got none. Watch the video.

This was the first time Kohli lost his cool on Day 3. But not the last time. Umesh Yadav gave him another reason to be angry. Yadav was bowling well, but then Adil Rashid hit him for successive fours in an over. Umesh Yadav bowled a superb bouncer that hit Adil Rashid. But the next delivery he bowled was again a loose ball as he bowled up. Rashid dispatched the ball to the boundary in covers. Kohli was angry at Umesh for bowling such a delivery. He threw his hands in the air and used the ‘b word’.
