Bangladesh cricket team were harassed by UK high officials at the ‘Iftar party’ they were invited for. The Bangladesh Cricket team is in United Kingdom for the ICC Champions Trophy, in which they played the opener at the Oval, which they lost against the host nation England, thanks to a brilliant ton by Joe Root. This is celebrated by the Islam community as the month of Ramadan, in which they fast for a complete month. It is reported that they were invited to one such party at parties are the way of life in this month, everything went of well but the security guards present at the event misbehaved with the cricketers even the officials of higher standings were not spared. Bdcrictime.com reported that BCB’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury was disgusted with the proceedings.

He left the party in disgust and it is believed that the team followed him as it was poorly managed and the authorities in charge of it has to be blamed. It is also believed that tickets of the iftar party was sold to the common mob for 10 pounds a person. Bangladesh have a tough task ahead after losing their first match against hosts England, even after Tamim Iqbal scored a laudable 128. Bangladesh have to win both their remaining matches, one being a stiff one tomorrow against Australia.

This is a shame because they are a nation that boasts of providing equal treatment to all communities.
