Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the most lethal bowlers in world cricket now. Initially, he relied on his swing in the initial overs but gradually became a reliable death overs specialist as well. Not many know that Bhuvneshwar was the first one who got legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket for a duck in First-Class cricket.
The 28-year-old was short of words as he saw Tendulkar in the lobby of the dressing room for the first time as he told Gaurav Kapur in show, Breakfast with Champions. He and Tendulkar exchanged customary greetings. As Bhuvneshwar geared up to open the bowling, all he could focus on was Tendulkar, him taking the stance, looking around at the field setting.
Before getting the ‘Master Blaster’ out for a duck, Bhuvneshwar set him up with odd 11 dot deliveries. The Meerut fast bowler credited his captain Mohammad Kaif for the wicket as well as the fielder was placed two paces behind the short leg positon and in front of mid wicket. As Tendulkar went for the shot on on side the ball travelled straight to fielder Shivakant Shukla.
Bhuvneshwar, obviously, was ecstatic. He did not expect to get the wicket of Tendulkar, the wicket of a batsman which every bowler cherishes and that too for a duck.
Bhuvneshwar has been rested for the historic Test against Afghanistan starting June 14. He will be returning to the squad for Ireland and England tour.
