Arjun Tendulkar Opts Out Of Mumbai T20 League. Is It A Wise Call?

It seems Sachin Tendulkar wants Arjun to cover all bases before taking on the best in the world

Arjun Tendulkar is just 18 years old, but he sure knows a thing or two about bowling to legends, thanks to his father, Sachin Tendulkar. It is not easy to be Sachin Tendulkar’s son in a cricket-crazy nation which not only considers the little master a demi-god but also expects a lot from the teenager. Recently, Arjun was back in the news after he opted out of the Mumbai T20 League. It is a big call considering he is young and opportunities are hard to come by. But now that the young Turk has already taken the call, we learn that he opted out because he apparently is working on his bowling action and remodelling it.

Well, we also learnt the fact that it was not an individual call taken by Arjun, but a decision that was taken in consultation with Sachin Tendulkar. Incidentally, Tendulkar is a brand ambassador of the league, which will be held from March 11 to 21. This is a massive platform for young kids from Mumbai to impress people and can serve as a launching pad for them to enter the national arena.

One thing is for certain, Arjun’s backing out will hurt the organisers as he could have brought a lot of fans to the ground at a time when top Mumbai players will be on national duty.

A source close to Tendulkar told TOI on Wednesday,

“His body has grown very quickly in the last couple of years – you can see the difference in his growth almost every couple of months, and perhaps as a result of that, has suffered two back-to-back stress fractures, which saw him ruled out for almost a year. He’s gone through a lot. Every ball of his is monitored by his coach Atul Gaikwad, a Pune based-coach-cum-bio-mechanist, who has been working closely on his bowling action.”
