Anil Kumble turns 47: Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman make it special for 'Jumbo'

On Anil Kumble's 47th birthday, his friends, teammates and juniors from Team India are wishing him on Twitter to make his day more happening

Anil Kumble, the former Team India captain and coach, has turned 47 today. Born in Bangalore, Anil Kumble donned the Indian jersey for the first time on August 9, 1990, against England. Kumble had many moments in his career when he stunned the entire world by his bowling heroics. From claiming all 10 Pakistani wickets in an inning to captaining India against West Indies with a broken lower jaw, Kumble had proved to be a superhero without a cape. He also remains the third leading wicket-taker in Tests after Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. And today, his mates and juniors from Team India have thronged to social media to wish him a happy birthday.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to share a picture collage with a glimpse of the India vs Pakistan Test in 1999 that was played at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, where Kumble took all the 10 wickets in the 2nd innings. Sachin tweeted, “Wish you a very happy birthday, Kumbels! You have been an inspiration for generations together and will continue to be one.”

Virender Sehwag too did not miss out a chance to greet the Indian legend on Twitter, however, he made Kumble’s birthday more festive by tweeting:

Another teammate, VVS Laxman, wished Kumble in a generous way. In his tweet, Laxman mentioned Kumble as “one of India’s greatest match winners”.

Apart from Sachin, Sehwag and Laxman, here are the other people from the cricket fraternity who wished Jumbo on his 47th birthday:

Anil Kumble had recently applied for becoming the coach for the Indian cricket team, however, lost the position out to Ravi Shastri.
