Nair scored 303 runs not out in 381 balls. He hit 32 fours and 4 sixes. He hit his first hundred in 185 balls, second 100 in 121 balls, and third 100 in just 75 balls- this shows his ability to shift gear when the situation demands.

Records

He is the second Indian to score a triple century. The other batsman to have done so is Virender Sehwag.

He is the third Indian to have converted maiden hundred into a double ton. Dileep Sardesai and Vinod Kambli are the other two.

He is the first Indian to have converted maiden century into a triple ton.

He is only the third batsman in the world to have converted maiden century into a triple ton. Only Gary Sobers and Bobby Simpson had done it before Nair.
