5 Indian Uncapped Players Who Got Franchises Fighting Over Them In IPL 2019 Auction

Will these young guns fire in IPL 2019?

Indian Premier League (IPL) rules limit franchises to four players in the playing XI. The rule gives young Indian players a chance to showcase their talent and make a name for themselves. This, in turn, makes the IPL auctions tricky as there is a need for local talent in every franchise. That’s probably why these five uncapped players with base prices of Rs 20 lakhs bagged extraordinary deals in IPL 2019 auctions on December 19 in Jaipur:

Varun Chakravarthy (Rs 8.4 crore) – Kings XI Punjab

Mystery spinners have always been favourites in T20 leagues across the world. Chakravarthy used to play matches on weekends. The 27-year-old used to bowl medium pace but later went on to become a spinner and that too an unorthodox one. He got 42 times the base price in the auction and became joint most expensive player in this year’s auction.

His economy rate is outstanding too. KXIP will now have a trio of spinners bowling carrom balls along with Mujeeb Ur Rahman and skipper Ravichandran Ashwin.

Shivam Dube (Rs 5 crore) – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Shivam Dube got the worth of every six he struck in an over. The explosive batsman has struck five sixes in an over twice in this year. The 25-year-old will be a part of RCB’s middle order along with big hitters AB de Villiers and Windies sensation Shimron Hetmyer.

Prabhsimran Singh (Rs 4.8 crore) – Kings XI Punjab

The captain of India’s Under-19 team from Patiala, Punjab. Prabhsimran Singh is a fiery middle order batsman. He was under KXIP’s radar from a long time as coach Mike Hesson called him for trials. He can keep wickets too instead of KL Rahul, who was mediocre with the gloves in the previous season.

Prayas Ray Barman (Rs 1.5 crore) – Royal Challengers Bangalore

The tall leg spinner reminds people of Anil Kumble even though he is a fan of Shane Warne. The 16-year-old can bat as well. Another addition to RCB’s middle order. By the looks of it, Prayas will get game time as RCB will back the boy from Bengal to be the surprise element in the side.
