Chloe Tryon's record strike rate in T20I innings will put players like Glenn Maxwell & Chris Gayle to shame

South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon played a destructive innings of 7-ball 32 against Harmanpreet Kaur-led India in the first T20I. Tryon remained not out at a whopping strike rate of 457.14 and created history. Her strike rate is the highest in T20I cricket including both men and women cricket. It is even the highest in the history of international cricket.

The highest strike rate in T20I (men) cricket is by former Windies all-rounder Dwayne Smith who scored 29 runs from 7 deliveries at a strike rate of 414.28. As far as ODIs (men) are concerned, New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin has the highest strike rate of  287.5 in his innings of 31 runs from 8 deliveries.

Tryon came into bat in the 19th over of South Africa’s innings when they were 130 for 4 in 18.3 overs. She came and struck four sixes and 2 fours in her innings. There was only one dot delivery she faced in her innings.

She took the score to a decent total of 164 for 4. However, her innings went in vain as India chased down the target, thanks to Mithali Raj’s 11th half-century. She was supported by opener Smriti Mandhana followed by 17-year-old debutante Jemimah Rodrigues. Veda Krishnamurthy too took off the pressure off her guiding India to an easy 7-wicket victory in the first T20I.

Tryon is expected to produce a few similar innings in the ongoing five-match T20I series. Even her career strike rate is the highest, 141.66 from 35 matches.
