Ajinkya Rahane's father arrested for mowing down a woman with his car

The woman, who was identified as Ashatai Kamble, met the accident on the National Highway number 4

Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane’s father, Madhukar Baburao Rahane, was arrested on December 15 for mowing down a woman with his car in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. According to reports, the 67-year-old woman, later, succumbed to her injuries in one of the local hospitals.

The woman, who was identified as Ashatai Kamble, met with the accident on National Highway number 4. It is, however, unclear as to who was driving the vehicle.

Reports in the local media claimed that people gathered at the accident site took the woman to a nearby government hospital, where she was declared dead.

Madhukar was travelling with his family in his Hyundai i20 car. He was headed to Tarkarli, Konkan via the Pune-Bengaluru highway.

The Kagal Police Station has filed a case against Madhukar under sections 304 A, 289, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, Ajinkya is currently touring with the Indian team in Visakhapatnam for the third One Day International against Sri Lanka. The three-match series is level at 1-1. The third ODI game at Vizag on December 17 will be a decider.
