This world leader needs no passport to travel the world. Guess who

Not only this world leader can travel without a passport, but does not need a driving license at home too

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known to fly out regularly to various countries on official visits. Although he is in the crosshairs of the opposition for frequently travelling abroad, he cannot do away with his responsibilities of state visits and international meets. Modi, who endured a nine-year-long ban by the US administration during his stint as Gujarat Chief Minister, has made five trips to Washington so far. Recently, we stumbled upon a thread on Quora that asked whether the Indian Prime Minister required a passport to travel. Well, like any other citizen of the country, the Prime Minister, too, needs the travel document to fly out. However, unlike most of the citizens, the PM is allocated a diplomatic passport that remains with him/her throughout their tenure. But there is one world leader who does not require a passport to travel abroad.

This head of state is none other than the reigning monarch of United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II. While travelling overseas, she does not require a British passport because the travel document is issued to her citizens in her name. According to the Royal family’s official website, the British passport is burgundy in colour and features the coat of arms of the United Kingdom emblazoned on its front cover. The first page of the passport reads:

“Her Britannic Majesty’s Secretary of State requests and requires in the name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.”

Since the passport is issued in her name, it is unnecessary for the Queen to possess one. But her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and heir, Charles, The Prince of Wales are required to carry passports whenever they travel abroad.
