Indian football captain did it again! For the second time in a year, Sunil Chhetri overtook Lionel Messi to become the second highest goalscorer among active players in international football.
The 34-year-old achieved the feat against Tajikistan in the opening match of the Intercontinental Cup 2019. He now has 70 goals for India and is second to Cristiano Ronaldo who has 88 goals in his name for Portugal while Argentina’s Messi stands third at 68 goals. In June this year, Chhetri created another record by surpassing ex-skipper Baichang Bhutia to become India’s most capped international player.
