Revealed: Why SS Rajamouli and Karan Johar released the trailer of Baahubali 2 in a hurry

The Hindi trailer of Baahubali: The conclusion was supposed to release at 5 pm today. However, SS Rajamouli and Karan Johar released it earlier

The Hindi trailer of SS Rajamoulo’s Baahubali: The Conclusion is out. The film is a prequel to the 2015 blockbuster, Baahubali: The Beginning. While the trailer is garnering all kinds of praises for being king size, there’s a little story around it’s launch. The Hindi trailer was set to launch at a grand event in Mumbai today. The press releases were out and the event was promoted well in advance informing that the anticipation will be over in the evening today.

However, Dharma Productions which is distributing the Hindi version of the film just released it on its official social media handles without any prior information. This was of more concern since Dharma never releases any promo of their films without a big event.

What is the reason of revealing the trailer in such a jiffy? Well, the answer is piracy.

The Malayalam trailer of the film was leaked last night and the makers feared the same for its Hindi trailer as well. Quite saddened by the news, Rajamouli himself mentioned that the team did not want to spoil the excitement for Baahubali fans and others. However, in order to combat piracy, the fact that the fans would eventually land up watching the pirated version of the trailer, releasing it as quickly as possible, way seemed to be a better plan.

While launching the trailer, Rajamouli said:

“We had planned to release all the trailers by 5 pm today. It’s irritating that such things happen. But on a positive note, fans are really happy about it. They have liked the trailer and this is what we wanted.”

Featuring Prabhas, Rana Dagubbati, Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles, Baahubali: The Conclusion is going to hit the theatres on 28 April.
