Sonu Nigam azaan row: 'Only cows should be made to moo in morning on loudspeaker': Twitter roasts the singer for criticising Azaan

Sonu Nigam posted a controversial early morning tweet on azaan, leaving social media users furious. Here's how they responded

Sonu Nigam, who has enthralled the viewers with his melodious voice for the past two decades, sparked controversy with his early morning tweet on Azaan, a call to Muslims for worship. No sooner did his tweet go viral, the National Award winning singer was trolled on Twitter.

In his tweet, Nigam posted,”God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India.” Further, in a series of tweets, he continued his rant.

“And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?” he added further. The singer had raised few eyebrows during a college fest in Kanpur when he had praised Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Nigam had said he was impressed by the manner in which the new CM was taking care of the state.

However, his early morning tweet evoked strong reactions on social media with several users lambasting him for the tweet.

Soon, there were many users who criticised the singer for his seemingly communal tweet.

The anger against Sonu Nigam did not end there and more people joined to criticise the singer.
