Delhi Metro Is Going Green, To Turn Fully Solar By 2021

By 2021, DMRC hopes to become India's first rail network fully powered by solar energy.

Delhi Metro is soon going solar in all its operations. On April 18, they started receiving 27 MW solar power  from Rewa Solar Power Project in Madhya Pradesh which will cater to one-third of its energy requirements. Gradually this will increase to 99 MW solar power. By 2021, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) hopes to become India’s first rail network fully powered by solar energy which will reduce millions of tonnes of carbon waste.Presently, DMRC generates 28 MW of power through its several rooftop solar plants which is used for lighting and air conditioning its premises
