From downright denying the fact that atheism exists to believing that all atheist are Satan worshipers, there are a lot of stereotypes that our society associates with atheists. Being a God-fearing society, it’s pretty much a given that any atheist in this country will be faced with multiple absurd questions. We don’t want you to be one of those misinformed people who randomly blurt out silly things without doing their research. Here’s a list of 7 things you should never say to an atheist in India.
BTW first let’s get it right and know the meaning of Atheist:
a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or Gods.
Aisa kuch nahi hota, you’re just brain-washed.
You’re an atheist so you probably have no morals, right?
If you need the fear of God to stop you from committing crimes and murders, then you’re the one with a serious problem buddy.
Uh, you worship Satan?
Not all atheists are Satan-worshippers. And while we’re at it, not all Satanists are goat-sacrificing lunatics.
If there’s no God, who created the universe?
Do you really want a lecture on quantum vacuum fluctuations and the big bang?
So you can’t enter a temple?
Please note: An atheist will not burst into flames if they enter a place of worship.
But prayer can heal lives!
We get that doing pooja everyday is cool, we just don’t believe that sitting and chanting can save lives. Everyone has a right to their opinions, right?
So you don’t celebrate Diwali, Holi or anything?
Atheists aren’t anti-festivals. They’re not anti anything for that matter. An atheist wants to celebrate festivals as much as you do!
You’re just mind-washed by the west!
Atheism isn’t a western/eastern/southern/northern/any other direction culture thing. It’s a school of thought- nobody gets bullied or influenced into becoming an atheist!
