Chennai’s Central Metro Station is being hailed as the mother of all metro stations in the city. The gigantic structure is spread across an area of over 3 lakh sqft and is located at a depth of 28 m below the ever-buzzing Poonamallee High Road.
The metro station will have three levels- ticketing, upper and lower track levels. At the ticketing level, 50,000 sqft space will be dedicated to food and entertainment. The metro station also has 62 staircases, 36 escalators, and 15 elevators, 14 ticketing counters, 2 island platforms, 2 subways, and 5 entry/exit points.
The entry/exit points are located near Park Station, Moore Market Complex, Central Station, Govt Hospital and Ripon Building.
