Watch: Cops stop ambulance carrying bleeding child for VVIP passage, Social media raps police apathy

The netizens lambasted authorities' preference of VVIP over a dying child

A video purportedly showing an ambulance carrying a bleeding child being stopped by cops due to VVIP movement is making rounds on social media sites. The incident happened on Saturday morning near gate number 14 of the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium near IP Estate where police officials stopped an ambulance carrying a bleeding child for hassle-free movement of cavalcade of Malaysian prime minister.

The video shows people arguing with police personnel to let the ambulance pass.  “The child inside the ambulance was bleeding from his head and nose. A relative travelling with him told us that he had met with an accident at their village in Sonepat and had been referred to a hospital in Delhi,” said Preet Narula who posted the video on Facebook.  Police, however, maintains that they followed the protocol and it took a couple of minutes to let the ambulance go.

“My team cleared the way for the ambulance, which was stuck at the back of the traffic, and a few minutes later the ambulance was on its way,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) MS Randhawa told The Indian Express. He also said that the police officers also escorted the ambulance from the back of the traffic till the barricade.

The video has been  shared over  13000 times on facebook and has garnered over  5 lakh views in less than five days.  The netizens lambasted authorities’ preference of VVIP over a dying child. “Poor thinking Police constable
