Guess What Unnao MP, Sakhsi Maharaj, Was Doing When The Nation Raged About The Rape Case?

The development comes as his constituency is at the centre of a nationwide outrage over the rape of a minor allegedly by his own party MLA

BJP MP Sakhsi Maharaj, who has mastered the fine art of courting controversies over the past few years, finds himself in a bit of a soup . The 62-year-old leader on Sunday inaugurated a nightclub in Lucknow’s Aliganj.

The development comes as the constituency he represents Unnao is at the centre of a nationwide outrage over the rape of a minor allegedly by his own party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

The same leader has once appealed to Hindu women to bear four children each and then give one to the army and one to religious leaders. THe Unnao MP has also said that the ‘vulgar acts’ by couples in parks and cars lead to rape. “When these couples ride a motorcycle, they hug each other as if the girl will eat the boy or the boy will eat the girl,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Tiimes.

The nightclub, called Let’s Meet, is located near Ram Ram Bank crossing in Aliganj area of Lucknow.

However, The lawmaker is now claiming that he was tricked into inaugurating the night club.

“I was told by former UP state president Rajjan Singh that it was a restaurant owned by his son-in-law. I agreed,” he was quoted as saying by Times of India.

He has now lodged a complaint with BJP state president Mahendra Nath Pandey seeking action against a party functionary who urged him to inaugurate the club.

Twitter was quick to poke fun at the double standards of the Hindutva leader

Last year, the BJP lawmaker had defended Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after he was convicted for raping his female followers at a Panchkula court on August 25.

“One person has complained of rape against Ram Rahim. Crores others believe he is God. Who do you think is right?” Sakshi Maharaj said, alleging a “conspiracy to defame not only Ram Rahim and other saints, but also Indian culture.” he was quoted as saying.
