Today In Irony-Is-Dead: BJP Lawmaker Wants To Bomb Those Feeling Unsafe In India

A BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh has said those who feel unsafe in India are traitors and 'should be bombed'.

Debate over intolerance or the alleged persecution of minorities in India under the current political climate has often seen some of the most off putting comments in the recent past. Those who choose to disagree are often asked to go to Pakistan, or labelled as traitors, or urban-naxals, or anti-nationals. Recently, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah was relentlessly targeted for voicing his opinion against the current political climate and the diatribe continues unabated. The right wing netas lap up to it especially if the comments comes from a Muslim actor.

A BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh has said those who feel unsafe in India are traitors and ‘should be bombed’. Vikram Saini, a legislator from Muzaffarnagar, has advised those feeling unsafe in India to leave the country and settle elsewhere.

“These traitors should be severely punished as per the law. My personal view is that those who say they feel unsafe and threatened in India should be bombed. If these people do not respect the values of our nation, then they are always welcome to leave this country and settle down in a foreign country,” Vikram Saini said as per ANI.

Saini also said if he was give a charge of a ministry, he will bomb such people. “Give me a ministry and I will bomb all such people,” he went on, adding that he would spare none.

“Why should you stay here if you do not have any patriotic feelings towards your country? If you feel unsafe, go where you feel safe. Who has stopped them?”

Saini is no new to the controversies. Last year, while addressing a population control campaign event, he urged the Hindus to produce more children until a law for population control was formulated.

The irony evident in his remarks sparked sharp criticism on Twitter.
