Three Months After Launch, Delhi Metro's Magenta Line Already Robbed Of Rs 2 Crore

Merely three months after Delhi Metro Rail Corporation launched its Magenta line, looters have robbed the 12.6 km corridor of Rs 2 crores.

Inaugurated on December 25, the Magenta line was intended to bring South Delhi and Noida closer together through the Botanical Garden-Kalkaji Mandir link. However, recent reports suggest that the corridor has already been looted of 3,750 metres of 25kv/33kv power cables, which were worth around Rs 2 crores. The cables supplied power to stations and the Kalindi Kunj depot for trains.

Reportedly, there have been 15 such cases of theft around the ramp of Kalindi Kunj depot and along the stretches of Okhla Vihar-Jasola Vihar, Jasola Vihar-Kalindi Kunj, and Okhla Vihar-Jamia Nagar. However, there have been no arrests for the robberies yet.

Clearly, we don’t deserve nice things.
