This Man Just Donated Rs 52,750 Cr To Philanthropy

With this move, Azim Premji's total contribution to charity & welfare now amounts to Rs 1,45,000 crore

In one of the biggest philanthropic gestures by any business tycoon in India, Wipro Chairman Azim Premji has decided to donate 34 % of shares of Wipro Ltd worth over Rs 52, 750 crores to philanthropy. With this move, his total contribution to charity and welfare now amounts to Rs 1,45,000 crore. A Standford dropout who started with his family’s cooking oil business in 1966, Premji went on to run one of India’s biggest IT companies. In 2013, he signed the Giving Pledge, a philanthropic campaign led by billionaires like Bill Gates & Warren Buffet where he pledged to donate Rs 220 crore. Premji runs the Azim Premji Foundation which works in the field of education and also supports several non-profit groups.
