This Madurai Temple Offers 'Chicken Biryani Prasad'. No, We Aren't Joking

It is a part of an 84-year-old tradition.

For all you biryani lovers out there, there’s a temple in Tamil Nadu that serves non-vegetarian biryani as prasad. No, we aren’t kidding at all. Muniyandi swami temple in Vadakkampatti, a remote village in Madurai district celebrates the annual 3-day festival called the ‘Muniyandi temple biryani festival’.

It is a unique festival since both chicken & mutton biryani is served to the public as prasad (offering). Around 1000 kg of rice, 250 goats & 300 chickens are bought through donations.  The temple has been following this tradition for the last 84 years.
