These Women Have Offered To Support The Kids of Kerala Nurse Who Died Battling Nipah Virus

Two Keralaite women based out in Abu Dhabhi have offered to sponsor the education of the children of nurse Lini Puthussery who have fallen victim to the deadly Nipah virus while treating one of the patients diagnosed with same infection.

Santhi Promoth and Jyothy Palat, who are the executive directors of Avitis Institute of Medical Sciences in state’s Palakkad district, contacted nurse Lini’s family and offered to financial support to her young sons, Gulfnews reported.

Speaking to the Dubai-based daily, the duo said they were moved after reading the story of Lini who sacrificed her life for her profession.

“We are also working in healthcare sector. We know how big the contribution of nurses is,” said Santhi.

Notedly, in her last letter, Lini has asked her husband Sajeesh, who works in Bahrain, to take their children to the Gulf.

“I think I am almost on my way; I don’t think I’ll be able to meet you. Please look after our children. Take them with you to the Gulf; don’t be all alone like our father, please.” she wrote in a letter that has nation in tears.

Lini was kept in the isolation ward and buried soon after her death. Her family was not allowed to see her body as officials feared spread of the virus, The New Minute reported. Meanwhile, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the death of Lini and announced  a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to her family.
