Thank You Randeep Hooda, For Yet Again Being The Indian Citizen We Couldn't Be

Randeep Hooda appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take note of the threat these forest officers face while performing their duty

Hours after a video purportedly showing a lady forest officer being attacked by workers of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), actor Randeep Hooda appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take note of the threat these forest officers face while performing their duty and ensure their safety.

According to the police quoting a complaint by the forest authorities, Forest Range Officer (FRO) C. Anitha along with the other forest officials went to Sarasala village in Sirpur Kaghaznagar block, in tractors to undertake Haritha Haram, a tree plantation programme in 20 acres of land.  To halt the plantaion bid, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA Koneru Konappa’s brother, Koneru Krishna Rao Krishna Rao and his party workers arrived at the scene and entered into an argument with Anitha and her team. As the officers went ahead with the project, the irate TRS workers started attacking the officials with sticks.

In a bid to escape the attack, Anitha climbed on a tractor but even then she was attacked with a stick. She fell down bleeding from the head. She was rushed to a nearby government hospital, but was later shifted to a private hospital in Kaghaznagar, police said.

In a series of tweets, the Sarbjit actor said, “An attack on a uniformed personal of the state is an attack on the state itself” a Lady Forest Range Officer in Kagaznagar Telangana beaten mercilessly for compensatory afforestation in Sarsala village by the brother of the local MLA Koneru Krishna and goons in police presence.”

“Dear sirs @narendramodi @PrakashJavdekar @pmo @SuPriyoBabulforest @HardeepSPuri @AmitShah officers and staff of the forest department are often left to their own mercies trying to protect the most invaluable assets of our country due to rampant corruption criminal activities,” he added.

Hooda has not only been vocal on social media about issues that matter, the Highway actor has also been associated with various social causes. Last month, Hooda joined a team of volunteers to help people who are reeling under the effect of drought in a village near Nashik. He also shared a video on Instagram urging the government to find permanent solutions for the drought victims. That’s not all, he has been part of many Khalsa Aid missions including the cleaning of Juhu beach after the Ganapati Visarjan in 2017 and serving food to flood victims in Kerala last year.
