Terrorists can use charter flights to attack Delhi: Reports

Delhi Police along with other security agencies have been put on high alert and are keeping a tight vigil across the national capital.

Terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba might be planning to use helicopter charter services and charter flights to launch attack through air during the Republic Day celebrations, according to the intelligence inputs.

According to PTI, Police is using anti-drone technology to thwart any attack or identify any suspicious flying object.

Apart from this, security personnel will be stationed atop tall buildings with anti-aircraft guns. CCTV cameras have been installed and control rooms have been set up to monitor the feed from the cameras, a senior police officer told PTI.

The advisory that has been issued to security agencies states that “it is imperative for the security forces to be familiar with the range of threats for devising appropriate counter means” since the use of conventional weapons by the terrorist and criminal groups is a part of an ongoing process to develop new techniques and tactics.

Meanwhile, Intelligencies agencies have also warned the security agencies that there’s a possibility of Pakistan terrorists sneaking in the country with the help of Afghan Ids.

More than 60,000 securitymen, including Delhi Police, CAPFs and NSG commandos, have been deployed in the national capital till January 26 evening due to terror threats ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
