Shocking: 4-year-old boy booked for 'raping' classmate in school

The girl's mother alleged that there was no ayah or didi inside the classroom and washroom

The Delhi police booked a boy, aged four-and-a-half, for allegedly raping a female classmate inside the classroom as well as the washroom of a private school in west Delhi during school hours.

The girl’s mother stated in the First Information Report (FIR) that the child complained of sporadic pain in her lower abdomen after returning from school on November 17. After the mother initially ignored her complaints, the pain worsened the next day and the girl narrated how a boy allegedly sexually assaulted her by using his finger and a sharpened pencil. The girl said she tried to push the boy away but to no avail as there was no ayah or didi around in the classroom or washroom.

The mother said that she informed the school teacher and the coordinator but the authorities allegedly did not cooperate. She said,

At night, I sent a message to her teacher informing her about the incident. In the morning, I asked her school teacher and coordinator about it. They feigned ignorance in their attempt to dilly dally.

She rushed the girl to the hospital where she was treated and the hospital confirmed it to be a case of sexual assault upon examination. The parents then lodged a complaint with the police. According to the deputy commissioner of police, a case of rape was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after consulting legal experts.

According to Hindustan Times, the school’s lawyer denied the mother’s allegation of ayah not being present in the washroom.

In September this year, a peon was apprehended for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl inside the school premises after which the parents alleged that the teacher tried to suppress the matter.

The Delhi government recently issued a 117-point checklist for ensuring the safety of students inside the school premises and warned of ‘zero tolerance’ in case of violations.
