Pakistan ranked as the riskiest country to be born in, know where India stands

Japan, Iceland and Singapore are the three safest countries in which to be born

UNICEF has shared the data on Neonatal Mortality Rate 2016. Neonatal Mortality Rate reveals the time where the children face the highest risk of dying in the first 28-days of their life.

As per the UNICEF report ‘Every Child Alive’, Pakistan is the riskiest country to be born in while India is 12th worst among 52 low-income countries.  India’s neonatal mortality rate, i.e. deaths per 1,000 live births is 25.4.

Globally, 2.6 million children died in the first month of life in 2016.
