NDTV anchor Nidhi Razdan asks BJP's Sambit Patra to leave the show. Twitter turns into her fan

When Sambit Patra repeatedly accused NDTV of working on an agenda, Nidhi Razdan asked him to either apologise or leave the show

In a debate on NDTV 24×7 on Thursday, Nidhi Razdan moderated a debate on beef politics after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Meghalaya quit the party over the issue. The question she posed was whether the move by the BJP leader will hurt the party politically or not? BJP spokesperson Sambit Mahapatra was invited for the debate to represent the BJP. However, in the middle of the show, Nidhi forced Sambit to leave the discussion.

Why, you ask? Sambit on the show repeatedly accused NDTV of woking on an agenda. Agitated by the choice of his words, Nidhi asked him to either apologise or leave the show. In no mood to apologise for his words, Sambit kept saying that he needed 30 seconds to state the facts. However, adamant on her demand, Nidhi cut the conversation with him to move to other panellists taking him off the camera.

Claiming that he was not allowed to speak, Sambit Patra took to Twitter and wrote: “And when You call this an “Agenda” …then they pull out the camera from you …” Several of his followers on Twitter advised him and the party to boycott the channel, some even called it a waste of time.

However, there has been huge support for Nidhi for taking a strong stand against the BJP leader. From those in the media, like CNN News18’s Anubha Bhosle and Prashant Jha of the Hindustan Times to usual news junkies, Twitter praised her for holding firm and forcing Sambit to leave the show.
