Mumbai's Versova beach clean-up drive resumes, two weeks after Afroz Shah and his volunteers were threatened by local goons

Mumbai’s Versova beach Clean-up drive, which was suspended for two weeks after goons threatened volunteers resumed on Saturday. Afroz Shah, the lawyer who started the initiative in 2015 was lauded by PM Narendra Modi. But on November 19, 2017  after 109 weeks of relentless efforts, Afroz Shah called it off after facing abuse from local goons. Afroz took to Twitter to express his displeasure and complained to the police. With Mumbai police’s prompt action, the clean-up drive resumed on December 2 and thousands of Mumbaikars from all walks of life joined Afroz once again.

Afroz shared a tweet expressing his happiness.
