Mamata Banerjee refuses to link her phone number to Aadhar. Here's how Twitter reacted

The West Bengal CM also dared the Centre to disconnect her mobile number

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on October 25 said that she would not link her mobile number to her Aadhar number. The Chief Minister also asked her party workers and leaders to not link Aadhar to their mobile numbers. While speaking at an extended core committee meeting of the Trinamool Congress in Kolkata, she said,

I will not link my Aadhaar with my mobile number under any circumstances. If the authorities want to disconnect my phone let them do it. The Centre is interfering in the rights of the people and violating their privacy. Aadhaar number should not be linked with one’s mobile phone.

While some of the users on Twitter agreed with her,

Most people on the micro-blogging site disagreed.

Some even took a mean turn to bash the two-time West Bengal Chief Minister.  Take a look:

One user even suggested that she was not linking her phone because she had links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

Recently, Attorney General KK Venugopal said that the government was willing to extend the deadline for linking Aadhar to welfare schemes as well as to mobile numbers by to March 31, 2018. The Supreme Court on October 25 sought clarification from the Central government whether any action would be taken against those who did not link their mobile numbers and bank accounts to the unique-identity scheme before the deadline.
