Kerala Floods: Pregnant Woman Rescued By Navy, Delivers Baby Boy

Both the mother and her baby are doing fine.

A pregnant woman was rescued by Indian Navy from Aluva in the flood-hit Ernakulam district in Kerala. Sajita Jabil, 25, had developed complications before the Navy chopper arrived for help. Her water bag, the sac which surrounds the baby was leaking

A doctor was first lowered to examine her condition and she was soon airlifted to Sanjivani hospital in Alappuzha district. After half an hour, the woman delivered a baby boy. Both of them are stable now.

“A distress call was made for help from Aluva following which the Navy reached the spot of rescue and conducted the operation” a spokesperson told The Indian Express.

Kerala is facing its worst flood in 100 years. Over 300 people are reported dead so far while lakhs have been rendered homeless.
