Now, what's your excuse this time?

If you are a resident of Bengaluru and are rapidly losing interest in the much-awaited assembly elections, here is some good news. As Karnataka goes to polls on May 12, many restaurants and shops are coming up with exciting offers and discounts to encourage citizens to vote.

Hotel Nisarga Grand Pure on Nrupathunga Road in Sampangiramanagar will give out free masala dosas and coffee for first-time voters who show up with their inked fingers on Saturday. And for those who aren’t first-timers, they are also assured of a free cup of coffee.

The restaurant’s owner Krishnaraj SP says it was a discussion between youngsters that inspired him to come up with this idea. “I heard a few youngsters in my restaurant who were talking how their vote won’t count and wouldn’t make any difference. When I countered them, they jokingly asked if I can give them free masala dosa and coffee for their vote. I readily agreed,” he told Inuth.

“The idea is the need to spread awareness about voting rights among citizens,” he added.

Vasudev’s Adiga, a popular eatery is also offering free coffee in all its 20 outlets to those who go out and vote.

It is a part of the ‘show your ink’ campaign started by ‘Young Indians’ in association with Confederate of Indian Industries, reports New Indian Express.

Apart from free food, there are other exciting goodies. A cyber cafe in Rajajinagar is giving out free internet access to everyone who votes. The cafe is also offering other discounts on photocopying which will be extended till the 2020 BBMP elections. “The main idea is to encourage youngsters to vote,” its owner S Vishweswaraa Iyer said, reports The Times of India.
