Kanwariyas Turn Violent, Vandalise Car In West Delhi

The men then stopped the car and broke the windows and the doors before turning it on its side.

A group of Kanwariyas vandalised a car after the vehicle “accidentally brushed past one kanwaria” on Tuesday evening in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar.

The men then stopped the car and broke the windows and the doors before turning it on its side. The car was being driven by a woman who along with her friend got into an argument with the Kanwariyas.

However, the duo fled the place after the crowd turned aggressive.

“Due to the aggressive nature of the crowd, the woman and her friend left. She informed her father, a paramilitary force officer. They have not filed a complaint,” a police official told Indian Express.

The incident led to traffic jam on the stretch for a few hours as commuters helplessly watched violence unfold.

After police turned up, one of the kanwaria allegedly snatched a lathi from a cop’s hand.

“A PCR call was made and two policemen went and tried to pacify the group but they did not stop. One of them, in fact, tried to snatch the officer’s laathi.”

By the time more force reached the spot, the group had left.

So far, the woman has not filed any complaint but the police have taken cognisance of the incident and said they are registering a case under relevant sections.

“No complaint was filed by the driver of the car or her friend, but we are taking a serious note of the incident and have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC against unknown persons… We haven’t found the kanwaria who was allegedly injured or touched by the vehicle” DCP (West) Vijay Kumar told Indian Express.
