In Bhutan, The Prime Minister Is A Doctor On Saturdays

He provides medical treatment to patients.

For Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, heading the country is not the only job he does. The 51-year-old also happens to be a doctor who spends his Saturdays treating patients. Tshering, who was elected as PM last year says, it acts as a ‘de-stresser’ for him. “Some people play golf, some do archery, and I like to operate…”. Besides, it’s a reminder of his election pledge to focus on healthcare. Tshering gained popularity with his mobile medical practise that saw him travelling to far-flung villages providing free medical treatment to patients.
