Is Kashmir's Iconic Dal Lake Dying A Slow Death?

The iconic Dal Lake of Kashmir is battling for its survival. Over the years, government has spent crores on its preservation. But Dal’s condition continues to worsen due to the increasing level of pollutants and encroachments.

So far, successive state governments have spent more than Rs 1000 crores on its conservation, but the results haven’t impressed experts and locals. Currently, J&K government has employed 1200-1300 local boatmen to manually clean the world famous lake.

Will they be able to save Kashmir’s aquatic jewel?
