Goodbye Lenin! BJP Razes Tripura's Communist Past

The five-year-old statue was razed by a group of BJP workers amid the loud chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

Two days after BJP defeated the 25-year-old Communist rule in the recently held assembly elections in Tripura, BJP workers razed the statue of Lenin, the legendary Communist icon. The five-year-old statue which stood in the heart of Belonia town was bulldozed by a group of BJP workers amid the loud chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
While the Left has labelled it as ‘Communism Phobia’, BJP says it was a result of public anger against the statute

A clear case of misplaced priorities?
