A Congress MLA from Chhattisgarh’s Chitrakoot drank polluted water at a public rally to lodge his protest against the supply of contaminated water in his constituency.
Lawmaker Deepal Baij, not only drank the contaminated water, he also made a public welfare department official to drink the same water that the people of Darbha’s Chindawada have to drink.
“For years, the people of Chhinawara (village) are drinking this (contaminated water). Now I am drinking this, take me to the hospital if I fall sick and you will also have to drink it,” said the MLA drawing applause from the people.
Baij, who has been an MLA for over four years also said that while politicians and public officials drink clean water, the people of this village have to drink this water.
The video of his speech has now gone viral, drawing a mixed response on social media.
