Abu Dhabi crown prince Zayed Al Nahyan arrives in Delhi to attend R-Day parade

The crown prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day parade this year, has arrived in New Delhi on January 24.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the crown prince Nahyan at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport just a while ago.

The visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces, is expected to boost bilateral ties in the key areas of trade and security.

Earlier, more than 60,000 securitymen, including Delhi Police, CAPFs and NSG commandos, had been deployed in the national capital till Thursday evening due to terror threats ahead of Republic Day celebrations, officials said, adding that Police have been asked to be alert about suspicious activities.

“Security has been enhanced near marketplaces and crowded locations. Restriction on the entry of heavy vehicles also been imposed,” officials said.

“More than 200 cameras have been installed along the parade route to monitor movements,” special CP, Mukesh Meena said.

This is Sheikh Mohamed’s second visit to India after his visit in February 2016.

“Special gesture for special guest! PM @narendramodi receives H.H. Mohammad Bin Zayed The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted along with pictures of the two leaders.

Ties between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been on the upswing ever since Modi made a historical visit to the Gulf nation in August 2015.
