Carried out in 28 districts spread across 24 states, the survey was conducted on more than 30,000 persons in 1,641 villages across the country

Over the years, successive governments at the Centre have come up with several schemes to improve the overall quality of elementary as well as secondary education in rural India. However, the data shared by the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2017 recently depicts a contradictory picture of the state of affairs.

The latest ASER report carried out by NGO Pratham released on Tuesday, January 17, revealed that 1/3rd of rural teens i.e, youth in the 14-18 age group, don’t know India’s capital, while 59 percent have never used a computer.
