With Jab Harry Met Sejal's Hawayein song, it's time to appreciate the perfect Shah Rukh Khan-Arijit Singh combination

After hits like Gerua and Janam Janam, Shah Rukh Khan's combination with Arijit Singh in Jab Harry Met Sejal's Hawayein song is a nostalgic journey

Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma share the screen space in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal. The song Hawayein from the film was unveiled late on Wednesday and has already generated a lot of buzz. The romantic track has been crooned by none other than Arijit Singh while the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil.

In less than 12 hours, the song video has raked in more than 3 million views. Filmed in the picturesque locations of Europe, Hawayein is bound to give goosebumps to music lovers. It brings back the magical SRK-Arjit Singh duo who have given us chartbusters like Zaalima, Gerua, Janam Janam and Manwa Laage.

It was in 2013 when Arijit first lent his voice to the actor in blockbuster flick Chennai Express. Titled Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari, the peppy song pictured on Khan and Deepika Padukone went wildly popular and since then the duo hasn’t looked back. A year later, the 51-year-old actor charmed Deepika again in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year with the help of Arijit’s vocals in the song Manwa Laage.

But the best was yet to come. Shah Rukh Khan teamed up with Kajol in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale to reprise their successful on-screen chemistry. Arijit crooned the song Gerua, shot in exotic Iceland that made the fans swooning to the magical chemistry between the two stars. Besides Gerua, there was another track Janam Janam that proved to be a befitting reply to the critics who had been claiming that SRK should stop playing romantic roles anymore. Although the film was panned by the critics, the songs were an instant hit. In real life, both the celebrities share a wonderful bonhomie too. In fact, when Raees’s song Zaalima was unveiled, Arijit tweeted,”SRK has romantic blood in his body. Nobody can romance like Shahrukh Khan in the whole world. Love and Respect.” To which King Khan replied,”Tum gaate hi aise ho pyaar khud bahar aa jaata hai. Thanks again.” The actor’s appreciation speaks volumes about the comfort level he shares with the vocalist.

There are only two reasons why Hawayein should be watched in a loop: Arijit’s voice and Shah Rukh Khan’s charm. The candid moment when Harry (Khan) croons the song in a train as Sejal (Anushka) listens to him, is worth admiring. It is arguably the best romantic song of the year yet. Kudos to the killer combo. Meanwhile, have a look at the song.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Jab Harry Met Sejal marks the third collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The film releases on August 4.
