Fuller House with Piku? Netflix 'binge-pairing' is a thing, and Indians are terrible at it

Pairing Piku with Fuller House on a binge and other odd habits that Indians have while streaming shows and movies on Netflix.

Professional binge-watchers would know that there exists such a thing as getting tired of binging. For those of you who don’t know ‘binge-pairing’ shows/movies is a thing and it is like needing a breather from your workout or having to drink water on a night of heavy drinking. Now, one would expect that people would choose to pair shows or movies of the same kind or genre, however, it seems that is not the case. Apparently, people choose to pair wildly different stuff on Netflix. It seems that when people chose to take a break from a show, not only are they taking a breather from the plot and characters, they are also taking a break from the whole genre.

Here are some of the most popular binge-pairs according to Netflix that people in India are watching:

Fuller House and Piku

As weird as it sounds, Netflix viewers in India choose to pair the Full House sequel with Indian comedy-drama film Piku. At least these two fall in the family comedy category. The other mentions on the list are way weirder.

Orange is the New Black and The Big Short

First of all, who needs a break from the awesomeness that is Orange is the New Black? Who? And why would anyone prefer to watch The Big Short after it? But, apparently, Indians are capable of the unthinkable.

Gilmore Girls and Silver Linings Playbook

It seems that when Lorelai and Rory get too much to handle, Indians go to Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper starrer Silver Linings Playbook. While it is a pretty magnificent film, the pairing is just downright absurd.

Stranger Things and I Am Legend

A post-apocalyptic world and a town where two dimensions cross paths. Nobody in the right mind would be able to make the leap from one to the other. But apparently, Indians can. Seriously guys, Joyce Byers doesn’t appreciate your apathy towards her child’s disappearance.

Bloodline and BA Pass

Starring Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn and Linda Cardellini, the Netflix original series has an uncanny partner among Indian viewers. I guess Indians would use whatever reason to feast their eyes on the sultry Shilpa Shukla in B.A. Pass.
