This vintage ad of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonali Bendre will take you back to the 90s

Before she became Miss World, before she featured in the Pepsi advertisement , Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did an ad for Radha's, an ethnic clothing brand

The woman with captivating beauty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made India proud when she won the 1994 Miss World pageant. She was one of the first females who put India on the global map.

The Miss World pageant shot her up to fame and, even though she had been working as  a model ever since she was studying in the 9th grade, the pageant truly kick-started her career.

However, much before she was Miss World, she was Sanjana. Rai had appeared in an advertisement for Pepsi alongside actors Aamir Khan and Mahima Chaudhary. Although she only had one line in the almost a minute-long 1993 ad, she gained much recognition from it. She broke many hearts in unison as she uttered the words, “Hi, I’m Sanjana, got another Pepsi?” Anyway, that is a well-known advertisement with not much to see if you’re a fan of Aishwarya.

One of her first advertisements was for Radha’s sarees and I think it’s safe to say that the ad was all about Ash.

What’s even more surprising is that out of the two other young woman, prancing around the green pastures, all draped in sarees, one is renowned Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre.

The ad was aired in South Africa in the early 90’s, way before Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone started shooting in the West.

The ad features Aishwarya, barely 20-ish, looking more beautiful than ever as she plays with a peacock feather and giggles with Bendre, both unbeknownst to the future that lies ahead of them.

She appeared in many other advertisements early on in her career and endorsed brands like Cinthol, Lakme, Palmolive. The first ad that she ever did, however, was for Camlin pencils.

Aishwarya has now aged gracefully and has outgrown the bounds that once defined her beauty. She remains ageless and the only thing she lacks today that she had then is the playful innocence in her demeanor.
